Trump offering early access to online posts in move seen as corruption

The Guardian · 4 hours ago

Trump Media has launched a paid service allowing subscribers to receive Truth Social posts, including those by Donald Trump, in real time before ordinary users. Critics say it could let wealthy traders profit from market-moving presidential announcements, raising concerns about conflicts of interest because Trump is the platform’s most influential user and its parent company’s largest shareholder.

The service, Truth API, costs up to $100,000 a month and is aimed at trading firms and other businesses seeking rapid access to high-profile posts. Democratic senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren have asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate, while Trump Media shares rose 5.5% to $10.39 shortly before the launch despite having fallen more than 70% since Trump took office.

  • Paid early access to Trump posts raises conflict-of-interest concerns.
