Donald Trump is reportedly expected to skip the 25th-anniversary 9/11 ceremony at Ground Zero, instead attending the Pentagon commemoration for the second year running. The reported decision matters because the New York memorial is the central site of remembrance for the attacks, while the museum seeks to keep its ceremony non-partisan.

According to The New York Times, Trump wanted to speak at Ground Zero, but politicians have not been permitted to give addresses there since 2012. Vice-President JD Vance is expected to represent the administration in New York alongside former presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and George W Bush, while Trump is due to speak at the Pentagon before travelling to Ireland.
