Trump says US will end annual aid to Israel by year-end

Donald Trump says the United States will end its annual aid to Israel by the end of the year, following an agreement with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump said Israel is prosperous enough to manage without the funding, while stressing that the US could provide help again if circumstances change.

Trump put the aid at $4 billion a year and said Netanyahu raised the idea of ending it, which the two leaders had discussed for several years. Arms sales to Israel are expected to continue. A study estimated that the US provided at least $21.7 billion in military assistance to Israel after the Gaza war began in 2023.
