President Donald Trump has announced what he called a “historic” agreement for Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza to disarm, linked to an Israeli withdrawal. Hamas has tied disarmament to Israel ending attacks, increasing aid and withdrawing forces; Israel was reportedly involved in negotiations but was not a formal signatory. Continued violence, mistrust and disagreement over sequencing mean the announcement does not guarantee implementation.
