Tubi names Shannon Olivas head of communications and publicity

Streaming platform Tubi has appointed Shannon Olivas as its new head of communications and publicity, tasking her with leading strategy across consumer, advertiser, product and entertainment PR as well as corporate communications for the Fox Corp-owned service. The move follows the promotion of Tubi's previous communications chief, Seana Sullivan, to senior vice-president of corporate communications at Fox Corp, where she now oversees Tubi. Olivas will report to Tubi's chief marketing officer, Nicole Parlapiano, as the free ad-supported platform continues its global expansion.

Olivas arrives from at-home COVID-testing firm Cue Health, where she led corporate communications through its IPO and direct-to-consumer growth, and has previously held senior communications roles at Netflix, DreamWorks Animation, Skydance Media, the Honest Company and the Wonderful Company. Tubi, acquired by Fox for $440 million in cash in 2020, has since grown to roughly 100 million monthly active users streaming about 1 billion hours of content each month, and is increasingly positioning itself as a platform for creators and independent filmmakers.
