Daily Mail ·

Charlie Hanson, a 73-year-old television producer who worked on Ricky Gervais’s *After Life* and *Extras*, has denied a charge of raping a woman in London in 2008. The case concerns an allegation made about 18 years ago, and the trial is scheduled for 2028.

Hanson appeared at Isleworth Crown Court and denied raping the complainant on or about 15 May 2008. The court heard that the historic case has no forensic evidence but includes text messages; a letter setting out the woman’s allegations was sent to Netflix and Bafta five years ago. Judge Martin Edmunds apologised for the delay, and the week-long trial is due to begin on 7 February 2028.
