TV Time co-founder launches Bingers to revive the beloved TV tracking app

TechCrunch · 2 hours ago

Antonio Pinto, a co-founder of TV Time, has launched Bingers, a new app aimed at reviving the beloved show and film tracking service after its owner, Whip Media, shut it down to focus on artificial intelligence. TV Time's closure had angered its loyal community, with more than 28,000 users signing a petition urging Whip Media to keep it running via crowdfunding or subscriptions, but the shutdown went ahead regardless. Bingers seeks to recreate the social features that set TV Time apart from rival trackers, such as forums for discussing episodes, alongside letting users import their old data.

TV Time had amassed over 26.4 million installs before it was removed from app stores on 15 July 2026, having offered a GDPR-compliant data export tool beforehand, which Bingers now helps users re-upload. The new app combines tracking, discovery and social networking, allowing users to build profiles, comment with photos and GIFs, rate episodes and vote on favourite characters. To avoid the running costs that contributed to TV Time's demise, Bingers offloads processing such as viewing calendars to users' devices, and will initially rely on user contributions towards server costs, with Pinto hinting at a future business model built around real-world meetups. Bingers is now available on iOS and Android.
