Twitch has introduced a setting allowing users to prevent Amazon from using material from their channels to train generative AI models. The move matters because streamers had been automatically included in such training for years, raising concerns about consent, transparency and whether creators benefit when their work helps develop Amazon’s AI.

The opt-out covers streams, recordings, clips, chat messages, and channel images and text, and is available through Twitch’s security settings. Amazon’s use of Twitch content was publicly confirmed by a Twitch executive in 2024, although the company has not said exactly when the practice began; Twitch says training could improve services such as speech-to-text captions across Twitch and Amazon.
