Daily Mail · 1 day ago

A suspected drug driver has been arrested after a pick-up truck struck a group of pedestrians and then collided head-on with two other vehicles in Doncaster, killing two people and seriously injuring four others. The crash occurred on White Rose Way, a key route linking the town centre to the M18, prompting a major emergency response and a road closure lasting more than 12 hours, with local MP Sally Jameson offering condolences to those affected.

South Yorkshire Police said a black Mitsubishi L200 struck four pedestrians on the pavement at around 11am on Sunday before colliding with a black Audi and a silver BMW on the opposite side of the road. Two adult pedestrians died at the scene, while four others were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 30-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit, and has since been bailed; police say there was no prior pursuit and are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage.
