Two men rearrested over suspected Iranian intelligence links near RAF Fairford
Two men previously arrested during an investigation into a suspected plot near RAF Fairford have been rearrested on suspicion of assisting Iran’s intelligence service. Counter Terrorism Policing says Iran is the country linked to the inquiry, and investigators consider Iranian state involvement highly likely while examining its extent and purpose.
The men, aged 24 and 25 and both from Westminster, were first arrested on 27 September and 1 October respectively. Seven men were initially arrested; five were found with petrol in three vans near the Gloucestershire airbase and remain on bail, as do the other two men not rearrested today. Police had deployed a bomb disposal team after reports of three suspicious vehicles heading towards the base.
