Two men have been charged following a "machete brawl" in broad daylight in Truro city centre that left three people injured. Armed police were called to Calenick Street at around 1.45pm on Monday after reports that a bladed weapon had been used during a fight, prompting the force to say there was no wider threat to the public as those involved were believed to know each other.

Sinjar Zurel, 27, and Seyin Zurel, 24, both from the Malpas area of Truro, have each been charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent; Sinjar Zurel faces additional charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in public. One victim suffered a potentially serious but not life-threatening injury, while two others sustained minor injuries. Both men have been remanded in custody to appear before Truro Magistrates' Court.
