Two more DoJ officials resign, including US attorney leading inquiry into Trump rivals
Two senior Department of Justice officials, Jason Reding Quiñones and John Eisenberg, are leaving after Democrats won majorities in both chambers of Congress in the midterm elections. Their departures come as Democrats prepare to scrutinise the department, and Quiñones’s exit raises questions about an investigation into Trump’s political rivals.
Quiñones led an inquiry into whether former officials violated Donald Trump’s rights when investigating him after the 2020 election. It had drawn interest from conservative allies but had faced personnel problems, and no charges had been filed. Eisenberg led the department’s national security division; civil rights division head Harmeet Dhillon also announced her departure on Thursday, saying she had submitted her resignation before an October television interview.
