Rapper Tyga has confirmed he used artificial intelligence as a "tool" while making his new album '$tarface', released on 31 July, saying he does not care if listeners object. Speaking to Vibe, he compared AI's role to the introduction of Auto-Tune, arguing that "real artists" adapt new technology rather than resist it, and that the finished result matters more than how it was made.

Tyga said AI was used for specific elements such as 1980s-style synths and a guitar solo, but stressed that production and "all the vocals" on the record were created without it. His remarks come amid a wider industry debate, with artists including Empire Of The Sun's Luke Steele and Boy George also acknowledging AI use, while others such as SZA, Lorde and Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter have been openly critical of its growing influence in music.
