Arsenal began the defence of their Premier League title with a comfortable 3-0 win over Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium, with debutant Christos Tzolis the standout performer. The Greek winger, making his first Premier League appearance after arriving in the summer, was heavily involved in the opening two goals and earned the highest rating of the match from BBC Sport, an encouraging sign for Mikel Arteta's side as they look to retain the title.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring after being set up by Riccardo Calafiori, before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead from a Tzolis cross, with the winger having also won back possession in the build-up. Martin Odegaard added a somewhat fortunate third to complete the scoring, while Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly also impressed in a dominant display. Coventry struggled throughout and rarely threatened, with goalkeeper Carl Rushworth enduring a difficult Premier League debut of his own as the visitors were beaten on all three goals.
