Ubisoft Adopts Massive Entertainment as Name of Studio Group Led by Christoph Hartmann
Ubisoft has formally named its "Creative House 2" studio group as Massive Entertainment, adopting the identity of its existing Sweden-based studio. The group, led by Christoph Hartmann (formerly of Amazon Games), consolidates development teams from Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto under a single brand, becoming effective on 30 September 2026. This move is part of Ubisoft's broader restructuring as the company pursues cost reductions and streamlines its creative operations.
The Massive Entertainment banner will oversee major franchises including Tom Clancy's The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell, alongside newly acquired original intellectual property such as March of Giants, a multiplayer online battle arena game previously developed by Hartmann's team at Amazon. Massive Entertainment remains a subsidiary of Ubisoft, which retains publishing and distribution responsibilities. This represents the second named creative house division in Ubisoft's restructured operating model, following Vantage Studios (which oversees Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six), with three additional creative house divisions still unnamed.
