Ubisoft brings back another Assassin’s Creed veteran to stabilize the series as it looks to reverse its fortunes
Ubisoft has appointed Eric Baptizat as game director for the Assassin's Creed franchise, bringing back a developer with deep ties to the series. Baptizat spent 16 years at Ubisoft between 2005 and 2021, holding key leadership positions on several flagship titles including the original Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla. He subsequently joined EA's Motive Studio, where he directed Battlefield 6 and the Dead Space remake.
The hire represents Ubisoft's strategy to stabilise the Assassin's Creed brand by recruiting experienced talent from within its former ranks. Jean Guesdon, the series' head of content, highlighted Baptizat's extensive knowledge of the franchise, technical expertise, and collaborative working style as reasons for confidence in his leadership moving forward.
