Ubisoft’s NFT-based tactics game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles will shut down in October, less than a year after its launch. The closure underlines the continuing difficulty of sustaining blockchain games, particularly those built around tradable digital collectibles.

Ubisoft said the game’s servers would close on 25 October, ending access to its online features and gameplay. Players’ NFT figures will remain in their wallets, but they will no longer have an active game in which to use them; the title launched in October 2024 as Ubisoft’s first blockchain game.
