Ugly’s ‘Marina’ Is Built “For The Girls”
Cambridge six-piece Ugly have released ‘Marina’, a new single they describe as combining subtle guitar work with grit, raw power and sexual energy. The song has become a notable part of the band’s live set, with vocalist Jasmine Miller-Sauchella introducing it as “for the girls”, framing its playful but intense lyrics as an expression of empowerment.
Miller-Sauchella said the track was shaped during the band’s second Blue Barn session, while she was listening to Pixies’ album *Surfer Rosa*, particularly ‘Gigantic’. Ugly will support the release with a UK headline tour in October, including some of their largest shows to date.
