UK to host Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky for state visit in 2027

The UK is expected to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a state visit in 2027, in a show of support during the fifth year of Russia’s war against Ukraine. Officials say the visit has not been finalised, and its timing remains undecided.

Zelensky is also invited to the G20 summit in Manchester next November, but the state visit is unlikely to coincide with it. The traditional banquet and other formalities may be adapted to reflect his role as a wartime leader. The visit could add strain to relations with US President Donald Trump, who has recently criticised Zelensky; the Ukrainian president has visited Britain about 13 times since the war began.
