Ukraine returns 13 children from Russian occupation, NGO says
Ukraine has returned 13 children and teenagers from Russian-occupied territories over the past week, according to Save Ukraine founder Mykola Kuleba. The rescue, supported by partners through President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, highlights continuing concerns about pressure on Ukrainian children living under occupation.
Kuleba said the children faced threats, psychological pressure and dangerous conditions. He cited cases involving demands that children attend Russian-run schools, where they were exposed to propaganda and, in one case, military recruitment pressure. The children are receiving psychological support, rehabilitation and help restoring documents. Save Ukraine says it has helped rescue more than 1,800 children; Ukraine’s Justice Ministry had confirmed 20,610 cases of deportation and forced transfer to Russia as of September.
