Ukraine seeks more US Patriot interceptors as bomb shelter probe deepens

Fox News · 3 hours ago

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has renewed his call for the United States to supply more Patriot missile interceptors after a Russian missile and drone barrage on Kyiv killed at least 10 people and wounded dozens more. He said the necessary interceptors already exist and it is now a matter of political will among partners, urging that anti-ballistic missiles "protect people – not sit in stockpiles" rather than remain unused in stockpiles.

The overnight strike on 1 August was one of several recent large-scale Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital, with Zelenskyy warning beforehand of a major strike. He said both Washington and European allies already understand what Ukraine requires and called for swift delivery of the necessary defence packages. The appeal comes alongside a widening investigation into conditions at bomb shelters in Kyiv, amid mounting civilian casualties from Russia's continued bombardment.
