Paris-based sales agent MMM Films has acquired international sales rights to "Camouflage," a drama by Ukrainian director Mykyta Gibalenko, and released the film's first clip ahead of its world premiere in Venice's Giornate degli Autori strand. The film draws on Gibalenko's own experience of emigrating from Ukraine to Germany, exploring themes of migration and identity that took on new weight after Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

The story follows 22-year-old Vitaly, played by Arthur Aliiev, who leaves Ukraine for Munich a year before the invasion, joins a student theatre group and finds a sense of freedom, then is joined by his mother and sister after they flee the war, bringing unresolved family tensions with them. The film is produced by Katharina Kolleczek and Leu Neu of Munich-based kalekone film in co-production with ZDF, and competes among ten features in Giornate degli Autori's main competition, alongside titles including "Agata the Writer" and opening film "My Notes on Mars."
