Skyline, a New Zealand-based firm, has revealed detailed plans to redevelop the long-derelict Sheffield Ski Village site at Parkwood Springs, following extended negotiations with Sheffield City Council. The scheme would transform a site notorious for repeated fires and years of dereliction into a leisure attraction featuring downhill karting and "street luge" style tracks, marking a significant step towards regenerating the area, though the proposals have proved divisive among residents and commentators.

The first phase includes a chair lift, two downhill tracks, a playground, café, educational attraction and a 339-space car park. A potential second phase could add a wave experience, a further downhill track and possibly the reopening of the site's original ski slopes, though that element would depend on another operator. The council is inviting public feedback on the plans until 27 September, with Skyline representatives Geoff McDonald and Sam Goddard having met local media to explain their vision for the site.
