The Pentagon's top artificial intelligence official, Cameron Stanley, said on Tuesday that America's closest allies lack the resources to match the pace of US military AI adoption, and that Washington is working with partners to help them avoid mistakes it has made. Speaking at the Billington Cybersecurity summit, Stanley said the US was actively guiding Nato and Five Eyes partners as it pushes for faster deployment of AI tools to warfighters, framing outdated procedures as the department's greatest liability.

Stanley, chief digital and artificial intelligence officer at the Department of War, has overseen the rollout of tools including GenAI.mil, a chatbot platform he says has reached 1.7 million users, and Agent Network, designed to speed up decision-making. He also highlighted the Palantir-built Maven Smart System, used extensively in the 2026 air campaign against Iran to strike more than 13,000 targets in 38 days, though that campaign has faced congressional scrutiny after a February strike on a school in Minab reportedly killed at least 168 people.
