US and Iran edge closer to potential breakthrough in talks to end war, Bloomberg reports
The United States and Iran may be closer to progress in talks aimed at ending the war, as Tehran considers nuclear proposals it had previously been unwilling to discuss. Any willingness to compromise could help restart negotiations, which stalled after an interim agreement collapsed in June.
Iran is studying proposals put forward by Qatar, the main mediator, according to a diplomat cited by Bloomberg. Qatar has been shuttling officials between Doha and Tehran to address disagreements over Iran’s nuclear activities and a US naval blockade of Iranian ports. US President Donald Trump also spoke with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani about de-escalation and a comprehensive agreement.
