World Team Tennis, the mixed-gender league co-founded by Billie Jean King in 1974, is returning after a five-year hiatus with a new media deal to televise matches on CNBC and stream them on Fandango, both part of Versant's USA Sports division. The tie-up marks a significant step in the league's reboot, giving it primetime network exposure and a streaming presence as it seeks to rebuild its audience following the pandemic-driven pause since its last season in 2021.

The six-match season will run from 1 to 15 December, deliberately scheduled outside the Grand Slam calendar, with players including Jessica Pegula, Tommy Paul and Denis Shapovalov already committed. The revived league keeps its city-based team structure, featuring the New York Empire Racquet Club, Toronto North Racquet Club and Florida Flamingos Racquet Club, and introduces a new format of four singles sets plus a mixed doubles tiebreaker, alongside plans for immersive technology and live entertainment. The deal also extends to other Versant properties such as E!, and fits USA Sports' broader strategy of acquiring growth-oriented sports rights alongside ventures like League One Volleyball and the Pro Padel League.
