Usain Bolt appears set to play Sunday league football for Wythenshawe FC Veterans, a Greater Manchester side stacked with former Premier League professionals, after his name turned up on the club's online squad list. The eight-time Olympic champion and world record holder over 100m and 200m is a well-known football enthusiast, having briefly pursued a professional career with Australian club Central Coast Mariners after retiring from athletics in 2017, and remains a regular at the Soccer Aid charity matches.

Wythenshawe compete in the Cheshire Veterans League and are managed by former Manchester City and Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Ireland. Their squad has featured notable names including Danny Drinkwater, Antonio Valencia, Joleon Lescott, Emile Heskey, Marc Albrighton, Nedum Onuoha and Papiss Cissé, with last season's line-up boasting more than 1,800 combined English top-flight appearances. The 40-year-old Bolt, an avid Manchester United fan, has yet to be officially confirmed by the club, which has been contacted for comment.
