Actor Vanessa Marano is set to produce and star in "Ring Leader," a horror comedy centred on a wedding party, which she is pitching to buyers at the Fantasia Film Festival's Frontières Co-Production Market in Montreal. Marano, best known for her lead role in "Switched at Birth," is making the film through her production company Calabrian Rhode alongside Canadian director Jason Lapeyre, with the pair seeking a financing partner to complete the project's gap funding.

The film, described by Marano as "'Bridesmaids' meets 'Send Help,'" was written by Elana Dunkelman and Becky Shrimpton and will be shot in British Columbia to take advantage of Canadian tax incentives. Calabrian Rhode, which Marano founded in 2018 with her mother and sister, previously produced the Netflix hit "The Royal Treatment," while Lapeyre's credits include award-winning genre films "Cold Blooded" and "I Declare War." The project is being presented at Frontières' pitch event, running 22-25 July.
