Emmy nominations recognise Variety’s Actors on Actors for fourth year running

Variety · 2 hours ago

Variety's "Actors on Actors" video series has received two Daytime Emmy nominations for 2026, both in the outstanding arts and popular culture programme category. One nomination recognises the spring 2025 run, broadcast on PBS SoCal as "Variety Studio: Actors on Actors," while the other honours the film-focused autumn 2025 edition, "Variety & CNN Actors on Actors," which streamed on CNN's platform as part of a new partnership between the two outlets.

This marks the fourth consecutive year the franchise has been nominated in this category, following nods in 2023, 2024 and 2025, bringing its total to five or six Daytime Emmy nominations overall; it previously won the award in 2019. The series, which pairs actors for candid conversations about their work, first launched in 2014 and has also picked up a Los Angeles Area Emmy, two Cine Golden Eagle Awards, and several Webby and Telly Awards. This year's nominees face competition from "Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood," "Off Script With the Hollywood Reporter" and "Working in the Theatre," with the autumn 2025 season featuring pairings such as Ariana Grande and Adam Sandler, Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, and Dwayne Johnson and Brendan Fraser.

  • "Actors on Actors" earns two 2026 Daytime Emmy nominations.
  • Fourth straight year nominated in its category; won in 2019.
  • Autumn 2025 edition marked first CNN–Variety collaboration.
