US Vice President JD Vance shared a TikTok video on Thursday in which he gave rapid-fire, one-word assessments of prominent Democratic and left-wing figures, including New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, Michigan gubernatorial hopeful Abdul El-Sayed, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Jon Ossoff. The clip, captioned "Thoughts", forms part of a wider pattern of senior Republicans using social media to mock and delegitimise figures associated with the party's progressive and democratic-socialist wing.

In the video, Vance branded Ocasio-Cortez a "communist" and dismissed Ossoff as "lame", while also taking aim at other figures such as Representative Adam Schiff, whom he called "irrelevant". The post appears alongside a wave of other conservative commentary criticising the Democratic Socialists of America and progressive Democrats, reflecting an intensifying Republican effort to paint the party's left flank as extreme ahead of upcoming elections.
