The game combines strategic combat mechanics with a story-focused experience that includes voice acting, dramatic cutscenes, and classic franchise elements such as Chocobo travel and airship exploration.

The latest promotional trailer emphasises the Warrior of Light, a character who serves as a 'Vision'—essentially an echo of iconic Final Fantasy heroes that players can recruit into their party. The game's core mechanic revolves around assembling a team of these character visions whilst navigating a world centred on restoring four elemental Crystals that were stripped of their light.
