Video: Final Fantasy XIV Online Switch 2 Extended Gameplay Showcase
Square Enix has released extended gameplay footage of Final Fantasy XIV Online running on the Nintendo Switch 2, ahead of the port's launch on 4th August 2026. The showcase, part of a stream lasting over two hours, gives players their first proper look at how the MMORPG performs on the console, including footage of more demanding battle sequences and busier on-screen moments, suggesting the version is in reasonable shape ahead of release.
Pre-orders for the Switch 2 version are now live on the eShop, with a free trial also available for those wanting to try before buying. Paid options range from the Starter Edition at $19.99/£11.99 up to the Complete Collector's Edition at $139.99/£87.99, alongside separate purchases for the Dawntrail expansion. The game carries a substantial estimated file size of 117GB, and will be followed by a new expansion, Evercold, in January 2027.
