Vietnam’s Skyline Media Schedules North America, International Rollout For ‘Mr. Hero’

Deadline · 2 months ago

Vietnamese comedy-drama "Mr. Hero" is set for a broad international rollout after premiering at the New York Asian Film Festival, with Vietnam's Skyline Media handling overseas sales and distribution. The film, produced by three Vietnamese companies alongside Fremantle's Singapore-based Beach House Pictures, tackles the sensitive social issue of online charity fraud through the story of a taxi driver who stages a risky scheme to fund his sick daughter's treatment. Its expanding release footprint reflects growing international appetite for Vietnamese cinema and Skyline's push to place local titles in multiple overseas markets.

Directed by Vo Thach Thao and produced by Timothy Linh Bui, the film stars Thai Hoa alongside Vo Tan Phat, Hong Anh, Le Thien and Doan The Vinh. Skyline has partnered with New Jersey's Eastern Edge Films for a North American release on 7 August, secured Australian and New Zealand theatrical distribution via Infinity Entertainment from 23 July, and struck a deal with J Cineplex for a Myanmar release in the third quarter of 2026. The film had already opened in Vietnam in late April to coincide with the Reunification Day holidays.
