A new bus stop has been installed in Egginton, Derbyshire, despite the village not having had a bus service since 2017, after the previous stop's pole corroded and became a safety hazard. Residents were surprised to see the replacement erected within days of one homeowner reporting the damage, and the episode has reignited the local campaign for a bus route to be restored, with Labour MP Samantha Niblett offering her support.

The old hourly V2 service was withdrawn by operator trentbarton in 2017 due to low passenger numbers, leaving Egginton without a post office, GP surgery or shop. Derbyshire County Council decided in 2025 to replace the corroded stop before responsibility for local buses passed to the East Midlands Combined County Authority in 2026, which said the stop was kept in place in case services resume. Residents, including 77-year-old Kathryn Bishop, said the lack of transport isolates people, with one young resident reportedly having to take taxis to work until he passed his driving test.
