VIRGIN STEELE’s DAVID DEFEIS Is Working On New Music: ‘There’s A Lot Of Stuff Already On Tape’

David DeFeis says he is working on new music for a future Virgin Steele release, with some material already recorded and more still being developed. He is gradually shaping it into what could become the band’s next album or albums, following 2023’s *The Passion of Dionysus*.

DeFeis said longtime guitarist Edward Pursino is healthy but prefers to contribute to recordings rather than tour; he remains welcome to return to the stage. The current live line-up includes DeFeis, guitarist Tommaso Vitali, Josh Block and drummer Matt McKasty, and is expected to play Italy’s Luppolo In Rock festival next July. The band was formed in 1981, and DeFeis has led it for more than 40 years.
