Virginia Democrats have renominated former Congresswoman Elaine Luria to run in the state's 2nd Congressional District, setting up a rematch against Republican incumbent Jen Kiggans. The primary result comes shortly after the Virginia Supreme Court struck down a Democratic-backed redistricting map, a ruling former state Attorney General Jason Miyares described as a win for the rule of law, having warned the proposed boundaries would have significantly shifted power in Democrats' favour.

The 2nd District, covering Hampton Roads and Virginia's Eastern Shore, is considered a key swing seat, and Luria previously held the seat before losing it to Kiggans. With the court blocking the redistricting attempt, the contest reverts to the existing map, meaning voters will see a repeat of the Luria-Kiggans matchup in the general election. The court's decision centred on adherence to Virginia's constitutional amendment process for changing district lines.
