Carol Langevin, the brother of Voivod drummer Michel "Away" Langevin, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the age of 60. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover the costs of his time off work, travel, treatment and other expenses linked to his illness, with organiser Gilles Bezeau and the band urging fans to donate or share the appeal.

Voivod described 2026 as a difficult year for the band, noting that former vocalist/bassist Eric Forrest (E-Force) is fighting prostate cancer while continuing to tour, and that singer Denis "Snake" Bélanger is at home supporting his partner Christine through colorectal cancer. The band called on its fanbase, the "Iron Gang," to rally behind Carol as they have for others in the past, recalling guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour's death from colon cancer in 2005. Voivod, formed in Jonquière, Québec in the early 1980s, remain one of Canada's most influential metal bands, best known for their 1989 album "Nothingface."
