Volkswagen is introducing AirConsole, an in-vehicle gaming platform, to its 2027 model lineup, allowing owners to play video games on their car's infotainment display. The platform launches with 20 games, including the classic Tetris alongside Pac-Man Championship Edition and Uno Car Party, transforming the vehicle's entertainment system into a gaming hub. This move represents an evolution in connected vehicle services, giving owners additional reasons to engage with their car's technology whilst parked.

The AirConsole platform will be available across select 2027 Volkswagen models including the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R and ID vehicles. Players use their smartphones as wireless controllers, though the exact number of supported devices at launch remains unclear. Access requires a subscription to Volkswagen's In-Vehicle Premium service, which costs £149 annually after an initial three complimentary months; games are only accessible when the vehicle is parked. Volkswagen has also created a bespoke version of Pac-Man featuring Volkswagen logos instead of traditional power pellets, alongside integration of ambient vehicle lighting that corresponds with gameplay.
