Vox Media Studios Inks First-Look Deal With 20th Television (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 4 weeks ago

Vox Media Studios (VMS) has signed a multi-year first-look deal with 20th Television, Variety reported exclusively. The agreement will see the two companies collaborate on scripted and unscripted television series for Disney Entertainment Television platforms, with a particular focus on adapting long-form journalism from Vox Media outlets such as New York Magazine, as well as material from Vox Media podcasts.

VMS is led by Dana J. Olkkonen, while Scoop Wasserstein, who heads Scoop Productions, oversees scripted development for New York Magazine on the studio's behalf; 20th Television president Karey Burke praised the pair's experience in adapting reporting for screen. VMS already has several projects in the pipeline, including Netflix's "The Altruists", based on New York Magazine's coverage of the FTX collapse, a Lizzy Caplan-led crisis-PR drama also drawn from the magazine, and a limited series in development at Apple TV starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cecily Strong. Past VMS titles include Apple TV's "Monster Factory", HBO's "An Update on Our Family" and Hulu's "Best in Dough". VMS is represented by CAA and Del Shaw Moonves.
