Suozzi said he does not personally support DSA positions and believes there is little broad appetite for them within the party or the electorate. He likened the DSA's growing influence to that of the House Freedom Caucus on the Republican side, a comparison intended to highlight how a smaller, ideologically driven faction can pull a party away from the mainstream. He also criticised the DSA for including "democratic" in its name, arguing this is misleading given what he characterised as its predominantly socialist agenda.
