Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy will let us recruit a space elf pirate and one of the holy psychics whose lives are nasty, brutish, and short

PC Gamer ·

Owlcat’s latest quarterly update for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy confirms two additional recruitable companions for its in-development inquisitorial role-playing game: an Aeldari corsair, Laarthyr Cairnareth, and Saro, a sanctioned psyker. The announcement matters because it expands the party options and illustrates the game’s intended focus on character builds, factions and Warhammer 40K’s morally severe setting.

Laarthyr can either join the player or be defeated, depending on their stance towards aliens, and uses psychic abilities to navigate the Aeldari Webway. Saro’s powers have been regulated through harsh Imperial testing; the update also adds daemonhosts as enemies, incorporates community-voted character-creation options, and reports that beta players most often chose a Hive World Noble Officer and most frequently bought melta charges. Dark Heresy remains in beta and has no release date.
