Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV Necron CGI Trailer Stomps All Over the Adeptus Mechanicus Trailer, but the Orks Trailer Is Still My Favorite

IGN · 17 hours ago

King Art Games released the third instalment of its Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV faction cinematics, featuring the Necrons. The piece introduces the Necron Chronomancer Thothmek, who awakens with intent to reclaim Kronus, a world that the Necrons controlled millions of years before the arrival of other factions. This trailer is part of a series of four planned cinematics leading up to the game's launch in September 2026.

The Necron trailer is viewed as a marked improvement over the prior Adeptus Mechanicus cinematic, which received criticism for inadequately portraying Necron combat capability. The new trailer prioritises atmospheric presentation and architectural design over action sequences, with particular emphasis on the alien technology and imposing nature of the faction. Compared to the previously released Orks trailer, the Necron cinematic is judged as strong but not superior. The game's launch roster includes four factions—Space Marines, Adeptus Mechanicus, Necrons, and Orks—with the Space Marine trailer still awaited.
