Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons Gameplay Reveal Gives Extended Look at Combat, Exploration, and Traversal

IGN · 10 hours ago

Invoke Studios has unveiled a gameplay reveal for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons at gamescom, showing an extended look at protagonist Kaatri's abilities in the single-player, third-person, open-world action-adventure title. The reveal highlights how the game blends exploration and combat around forbidden magic, giving players creative freedom to bend the rules and outwit enemies, which matters as it offers the clearest picture yet of how the D&D-licensed game will actually play.

The footage follows Kaatri and her patron Tasha as she upgrades her Warlock's Eye to track Raw Magic, before travelling to Darkon, an unstable Domain of Dread, and the settlement of Crickshank, where a mystery leads underground into ossuary catacombs. There she battles monsters including the Death Kiss using new spells such as Tasha's Leash (a cantrip for pulling or throwing objects) and Fey Switch (which swaps her position with an enemy), alongside the classic Eldritch Blast. The reveal also shows environmental combat via the Downpour Ritual and Witch Bolt, and melee options through her Pact of the Blade, which lets her conjure a sword.
