Warner Chappell Music has appointed Mexico City-based executive Carlos Ruiz to lead its expanded música mexicana division. Ruiz will oversee strategy and operations across Mexico and the United States, reflecting the genre’s rapid international growth and WCM’s effort to coordinate its teams and support songwriters more effectively.

Ruiz, who has led WCM Mexico since 2018, will focus on talent development, partnerships and opportunities across corridos tumbados, Mexican reggaetón, rap and related styles. Regional Mexican music consumption in the US rose 32.95% year on year in the first half of 2025, while Latin music generated 59.4 billion on-demand audio streams; Ruiz brings 35 years of industry experience to the role.
