Warner Music Group is establishing a technology center in Bengaluru, with operations beginning in September. The facility will concentrate on engineering challenges surrounding music distribution platforms and data system development, with artificial intelligence playing a central role. Mahesh Rao, who previously led technical initiatives at Walmart's India operations, has been appointed to direct the site's engineering vision and manage its organizational structure and budget.

The expansion reflects WMG's confidence in India's music technology market and its rapidly growing streaming user base. The move complements several recent technology acquisitions—including the music platform Revelator and the AI attribution startup Sureel—as well as licensing partnerships aimed at strengthening WMG's capabilities across digital distribution, artist rights management, and music-related artificial intelligence applications.
