Warrington Wolves strengthened their bid for a top-two Super League finish with a 30-10 home win over York Knights, led by 18-year-old Ewan Irwin. The half-back scored a try and kicked five goals as Warrington moved into third place on points difference, four points behind leaders Leeds Rhinos.

York led twice in an entertaining first half through Paul McShane and Jon Bennison, but Warrington responded with tries from Josh Thewlis, returning forward Sam Stone, Irwin, Danny Walker and Arron Lindop. Warrington have now won 10 of their past 11 home matches and face fifth-placed Hull KR on Tuesday during a run of three games in 10 days.
