Warrington head coach Burgess signs new deal
Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess has signed a new two-year deal, extending his tenure after leading the club to three major finals in three years. The agreement gives the club continuity as it pursues a first major trophy under Burgess, who says he believes Warrington is close to achieving its ambitions.
The 37-year-old has won 63 of his 99 matches since taking charge for the 2024 season. Warrington finished third in his first year, dropped to eighth in 2025, then returned to third and reached last season’s Grand Final, where Wakefield Trinity beat them; they have also finished runners-up in the Challenge Cup twice. Assistant Steve McNamara has since left to coach Hull FC.
