Musicians including Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Travis Barker (Blink-182), Tim Armstrong (Rancid) and CJ Ramone performed together as the supergroup Cretin Family at the official Ramones 50th-anniversary tribute, marking their first-ever live performance as a group. The concert, held on Sunday 30 August at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, played a set of Ramones songs with surprise guests including Billy Idol, Fred Armisen and The Linda Lindas, and fan-filmed footage of the show has now surfaced online, giving fans their first proper look at the collaboration in action. The tribute forms the centrepiece of a year-long series of events marking half a century since the release of the Ramones' influential self-titled debut album.

Hosted by John Travolta, the evening also featured a screening of a 50th-anniversary deluxe edition of "Carrie" alongside Travolta's directorial debut "Propeller One-Way Night Coach", plus a guest DJ set from artist Shepard Fairey, with proceeds supporting David Agus MD Cancer Research at the Ellison Institute. Band members and organisers, including Linda Ramone, paid tribute to the enduring legacy of the Ramones, whose 1976 debut was recently named Rolling Stone's greatest punk album of all time, with original members Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy Ramone credited with igniting the punk rock movement.
