DOWN are a heavy metal band formed in New Orleans in the early 1990s. Their music is often described as sludge metal, a style known for slow, weighty guitar riffs. The group brings together musicians also associated with bands including Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and Eyehategod.
The band’s forthcoming fifth album, Volume V, is due in November through Nuclear Blast Records. It follows a long gap since their previous studio album, released in 2012, and includes “Blood Oath”, which they have begun performing live. DOWN’s touring shows draw on both new material and established songs from their earlier releases.
