Fatboy Slim brought a series of surprise guests to his sold-out Big Beach Boutique 7 shows in Brighton over the weekend, marking a celebratory return to his hometown for the annual On The Beach concert series. The DJ, real name Norman Cook, welcomed the Brighton Gay Men's Chorus on Saturday night and actor Simon Pegg on Sunday, adding star power and emotional moments to the seafront gigs.

On Saturday 18 July, 50 members of the Brighton Gay Men's Chorus, dressed in pink shirts, sang an a cappella version of 'Right Here, Right Now' that morphed into Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', backed by a Pride flag and the message "Only love can conquer hate", before Cook joined them for a pyro-laden finale. The following night, Simon Pegg played a surprise DJ set with a Paul-themed alien backdrop before being joined onstage by Fatboy Slim; other acts across the weekend included Groove Armada, Derrick Carter, Seth Troxler, Special Request and TSHA. The shows came shortly after Cook performed an impromptu set at Brighton's "Carnival Against Fascism", a march opposing anti-immigration demonstrations in the city.
